Malcolm MacDuff, Earl of Fife, nephew and heir of Malcolm the 6th Earl,being son of Duncan, brother of the 6th Earl, by Alice, daughter ofWalter Corbet, of Markerstoun. He favoured the English party. He was oneof the guarantors of a treaty with the English in 1237 and 1244; was oneof the guardians of the Realm, 20 Sep 1255.
He m. Helen, daughter of Llewellyn, Prince of Wales. He d. 1266. Hiswidow m. Donald, Earl of Mar, who d. about 1292. She was living 1291.[Complete Peerage V:373]

Malcolm, son of Duncan, nephew of the last Earl, succeeded his uncle in1228 as seventh Earl of Fife. He was one of the guarantors of a treatywith the English at York, 25 September 1237, and of another treaty in1244, by which King Alexander II engaged to live in peace with England,and he joined with other nobles in a letter to the Pope to the sameeffect. In the reign of King Alexander III Earl Malcolm was one of thefaction of King Henry III, and was appointed one of the Regents ofScotland and guardians of the yound King and Quenn 20 September 1255. On24 April 1256 Earl Malcolm of Fife was fined in Northumberland for notcoming before the justices on the first day of a court. He was one of theScottish nobles to whom King Henry made oath that he would restore theQueen of Scotland and her child, when she went to England for her firstconfinement in 1260. The Earl died in 1266, having married Helen, adaughter of Llewellyn, Prince of Wales. She survived him, and married,secondly, Donald, Earl of Mar. She was alive in 1291, and was stilldrawing her terce from her first marriage. [The Scots Peerage IV:9]
