John was born in 1736 in Essex Co, Virginia. John's father was William Golding and his mother was Elizabeth Foster. His paternal grandparents were John GOLDING and Mrs Wood; his maternal grandparents were Robert Foster and Elizabeth Garnett. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Henry, James, Robert, Richard (Ali) , Sr., Anthony, William M, Reuben, Elizabeth, Mildred, Sarah and Mary.
