Opal Em's father was Austis Benton Wilson Sr. and her mother was Mattia Bowles. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Austis Bennton Wilson, Arvard Emil, Clifford Woodrow, Elden Maybury, Louie Parlee and Byrdie Ruth.
