His paternal grandparents were Martin Terry Rev. and Mary Ann Reed. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Gilbert Luther, Benjamin Franklin, Homer Burton, Lydia Alice, Edna Florence, Flora Ethel and Laura B.. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He had a half-brother named Chester.-
