Edward was born about 1472 in of,St Donat's,Glamorganshire,Wales. Edward's father was Thomas Stradling and his mother was Jonet Mathew. His paternal grandparents were Henry (Harry) Stradling Sir Knight and Elsbeth II |ferch William| Herbert. He had a brother and two sisters, named Henry (Harry), Jane and Mary.
