Martha was born in 1712 in Anne Arundel County,Maryland. Martha's father was John Sellman and her mother was Martha ,Groce) Grosse (Grace. Her paternal grandparents were John Sellman and Elizabeth Brashears; her maternal grandparents were William Grosse and Hester Gassaway. She had two brothers named John and Benjamin Lawrence. She was the youngest of the three children. She died at the age of 80 in May 1792 in Howard District,Anne Arundel County,Maryland.-
