John was born on October 17th, 1635 in Of,New Haven,New Haven,Connecticut and his baptism took place on October 17th, 1641 in New Haven,New Haven,Connecticut.  John's father was John (Or William) POTTER I and his mother was Elizabeth Rose WOOD.  His paternal grandparents were John POTTER and Hannah Mrs. POTTER; his maternal grandparents were Henry WOOD and Isabell Elizabeth GOODSPEED. He had a brother and five sisters, named Samuel, Elizabeth, Hannah, Mary, Hope and Lydia.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 71 on December 24th, 1706 in New Haven,New Haven,Connecticut.
