Maud was born about 1142 in Eng?.  Maud's father was *John FitzGilbert Marshall and her mother was *Sibyl , de Salisbury de Evereux.  Her paternal grandparents were *Gilbert FitzRobert , the Marshall Marshall and *Unknown de Venuz; her maternal grandparents were *Walter FitzEdward de Evereux and *Sibilla (Maud) de Chaworth. She had four brothers and a sister, named John FitzJohn, *William , Earl of Pembroke4, Anselm FitzJohn, Henry FitzJohn , Bishop of Exeter and Margaret FitzGilbert. She had two half-brothers named Gilbert FitzJohn and Walter FitzJohn.
