Morgan was born in of St Pierre,Matharn,Monmouthshire,England and his baptism took place on September 19th, 1722. Morgan's father was Thomas Lewis Esquire and his mother was Jane Rachel Beecher. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Lewis Esquire and De la Riviere Morgan. He had a brother and five sisters, named Craven, Rachel, Jenny, Elizabeth Barbara, Elizabeth I and Fanny.
