John Knox 
John was born in 1708 in Renfrewshire,Scotland. John's father was Ad Knox and his mother was Margaret Brock. His maternal grandfather was Henry Brock. He was an only child. He died at the age of 50 on October 12th, 1758 in Rowan Co.,NC. He was buried in Thyatira Church Cem,Rowan,NC.General Notes
When John Knox and Jean Gracy came to America, they came through Pennsylvania. Jean's brother, Patrick. came with them. The voyage took 3 mo. to complete in 1740. John and his son's served in Revolutionary War between 1776-1779. They lived in Iredell, North Carolina, three miles north of Mooresville, and the family moved to Tennessee in 1806. 1

John and Jean were married in a religious ceremony in 1737 in Colerain,Londonberry,N. Ireland. They had seven sons and a daughter, named William, Absalom, John , Jr., Joseph, James, Benjamin, Samuel , Sr. and Mary.
