Catherine was born about 1791. Catherine's father was Thomas Dewees and her mother was Catherine Spencer. Her paternal grandparents were Joshua Dewees and Elizabeth Bowman. She had two brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Samuel, William, Sarah, Elizabeth, Hester Letitia and ?. She was the oldest of the seven children.General Notes
