Margaret De was born in 1249 in ,Tonbridge,Kent,England.  Margaret De's father was Richard De Clare [EARL OF GLOUCES [EARL OF G and her mother was Maud De LACY [COUNTESS OF GLO [COUNTESS.  Her paternal grandparents were Gilbert De CLARE :[EARL OF LOUCESTER] and Isabel MARSHALL [Countess of Cor [Countess; her maternal grandparents were John De LACY [Earl of Lincoln [Earl of L and Margaret De QUINCY [Countess of Lin [Countess. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Gilbert "the-Red-Earl" De, Thomas De, Bevis (Bogo) (Benet), Robert (Richard) De, Isabel De, Maud De, Roese (Rohesia) De and Eglentine De.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
