Mary Ann was born on January 15th, 1839 in Picton,New South Wales,Australia.  Mary Ann's father was Bartholomew (Barney) CULLEN and her mother was Susannah TURNER.  Her paternal grandparents were Cornelius CULLEN and Mary Ann ROGERS or McRORY; her maternal grandparents were James TURNER and Homorah WHOLAHAN. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Bernard, James, John, Susannah, Margaret, Jane and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the nine children.

‌Mary Ann and James were married in a religious ceremony on September 12th, 1857 in Picton,N.S.W.,Australia.  They had five daughters named Sarah Jane, Alice, Mary Blanche, Elizabeth Ann and Jemima.

‌Mary Ann and John Charles were married in a religious ceremony on August 17th, 1872 in Adelong,N.S.W.,Australia.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Eugene Charles, John James, Catherine and Mary Ward.
