Her paternal grandparents were Walter BURGH and Aveline FITZJOHN; her maternal grandparents were John De BURGH and Cecilia De BALIOL. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Walter De, John De, Thomas De, Edmund De, Aveline, Eleanor, Elizabeth De, Maud (Matilda) De and Katherine De. She was the youngest of the ten children.
