Bertie Gertrude was born in December 1887 in Washington County, Ga.. Bertie Gertrude's father was Jeremiah "Jerry" M. Ross and her mother was Sally Irene Booker. Her paternal grandparents were James Ross and Amanda Unknown; her maternal grandparents were Oscar Emery Booker and Avashti Hepsiable Moore. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Robert Clinton, Oscar O., Henry O., Clarence, Calton, Bernard, Emory, Avasti H. and Ethel. She was the oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 70 in 1957 in Raleigh, NC.-
