Robert's father was George Fitzherbert and his mother was Agnes Beresford. His paternal grandparents were Robert Fitzherbert and Grace Eyre; his maternal grandparents were Hugh Beresford and Agnes Longsdon. He was an only child.
They had a son named Francis.
