Of Macedonia's father was King Alexander III of Macedonia (The Great) and her mother was Roxanne of Sogdia. Her paternal grandparents were King Phillip II of Macedonia and Prcs Olympius of Epirus; her maternal grandfather was Oxyartes of Sogdia. She was an only child.
