His paternal grandfather was Pepin Seigneur II Count of Perrone; his maternal grandparents were Robert I King of France and Adélaïde(Adelheid) of Holy Roman Empire. He had two sisters named Béatrice de and Miss de. He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Herbert II Count, Beatrice, Bertha and Sprota Adela.
