Roger was born in 1116 in Tunbridge Castle, Kent, England.  Roger's father was Earl of Hertford Richard FitzGilbert de Clare and his mother was Adeliza Alice le Meschin. He had three sisters named Alice (Adeliza), Rohese and Adles (Alice).  He was the second oldest of the four children. He had a half-sister named Isabel.  He died at the age of 57 in 1173 in Oxfordshire, England.  He was buried in Eynsham Priory, Oxfordshire, Englad.
