Owain Gwynedd ap Gruffydd Prince of was born in 1087 in Caernarvonshire, Wales. Owain Gwynedd ap Gruffydd Prince of's father was Gruffydd ap Cynan Prince of Gwynedd and his mother was Angharad Verch Owain. His paternal grandparents were Cynan Ap Iago and Ranult (Ragnhildir) Olaf of Dublin ingen; his maternal grandparents were Owain Ap Edwin Lord Tegaingl and Morwyl Verch Ednywain. He had a brother and two sisters, named Cadwaladr Ap, Gwenlian verch Gruffydd of and Susanna Verch. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 82 in 1169.General Notes
Yielded sovereignty to his nephew Llewelyn ap Iorworth in 1194. There isdisagreement as to who is Dafydd's mother, Christina or Gwladys.
