Gudbrand Olafsson of Uplands, known as Kula, was born about 0923 in Norway.  Kula's father was Jarl Gudbjorg Olafsson of Uplands and his mother was Ulfhild.  His paternal grandfather was Olaf.  He was an only child.

They had a daughter named Astrid Gudbrandsdatter of Uplands.
