Richard d' Avranches , 2nd Earl of Chester 
Richard d' was born about 1094 in Chester, Cheshire, England.1 Richard d''s father was Earl Hugh of Chester Avranches and his mother was Ermentrude de Clermont. His paternal grandparents were Visc Richard Goz of Avranches and Emme of Conteville. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Robert I, Maud or Matilda, Helga de and Geva d'. He died on November 25th, 1120 in Sinking of the White Ship (Blanche Nef) (dsp legit).2 General Notes

He married, in 1115,Maud, daughter of Stephen, COUNT OF BLOIS, by Adelaide, daughter ofWILLIAM 1. He died s.p. legit., 25 November 1120, being drowned, togetherhis wife, her cousin William (the only son and heir apparent of theKing), and a vast number of the nobility, by the shipwreck of the"Blanche Nef," off Barfleur.
