*Hugh was born about 1105 in Burgh By Sands, Cumberland ENG. *Hugh's father was *Simon de Morville and his mother was *Ada de Engaine. His paternal grandfather was *Hugh de Morville; his maternal grandparents were *Ralph de Engaine and *Ebria Trivers. He was an only child. He died in 1262.General Notes
In 1150 Hugh de Moreville founded Dryburgh Abbey, in Berwickshire, Scotland. One of his sons, also named Hugh, was one of four knights who, on 29 December 1170, was responsible for the murder of Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral.
