* Gruffyd I was born in 1011.  * Gruffyd I's father was * Llewelyn ap Seisyll and his mother was * Angaradh verc Maredudd.  His paternal grandparents were * Seisyll ap Ednowain and * Prawst verch Elise; his maternal grandfather was * Maredudd ap Owain.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 52 on August 5th, 1063.

‌* Gruffyd I and * AEldgyth were married in a religious ceremony about 1056.  They had a daughter named * Nesta.
