hanged at the Dunoon massacre of Clan Lamont by Clan Campbell in 1646. His young son, Ninian, was spirited away with his nurse by a British officer who was staying at their home and hidden in a cave until the danger passed. Duncan also had sons John L. Lamont b. @@ 1653, and Archibald L. b. @@ 1661, tutor of Knockdow 1678 who d. @@ 1712. Modern day known Knockdow Lamont descendants were all thought to be descended from Ninian until this research was brought to light. Sir Norman Lamont of Knockdow, who died in 1897 was believed to have been the last Knockdow Lamont, having descended from Ninian.
