Mahaut was born about 1205 in Of,Martock,Somersetshire,England. Mahaut's father was William Sheriff of Somerset de Fiennes and her mother was Agnes de Dammartin. Her paternal grandparents were Ingelram de Fiennes and Sibyl de Boulogne; her maternal grandparents were Arnould II D' Ardres and Gertrud Van Aalst. She had three brothers and two sisters, named William De, Baldwin De, Ingelram De, Miss De and Michel De. She was the third oldest of the six children.General Notes
