Hring was born about 0406 in Of,Ringerike,Norway.  Hring's father was Raum "The Old" Norsson and his mother was Hildur Gudraudsdatter.  His paternal grandfather was Gorr Thorrasson King of Alfheim; his maternal grandfather was Gudraud. He had six brothers named Finnalf, Godbrand, Gudraud, Haud, Jotunbjorn and Hadding.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
