Sigrid of was born in 1180. Sigrid of's father was Earl Baard of Birkbein and her mother was Ragndid of Birkbein. Her paternal grandparents were Earl Guttorm of Birkebein and Sigrid of Birkebein. She had four brothers and a sister, named Earl Gottorm of, Earl Arnulf of, Earl Sigurd of, Earl Skuli of and Ingemborg of. She was the oldest of the six children.-
