General Notes

Bute, a small island off the southwest coast Scotland, with the Isle of
Arran off to its southwest, where the Dalraidia "Scots" Irish under
Fergus landed in ?865 A.D.

In the CLANS OF THE ISLANDS, Sir Iain Moncriffe of that Ilk and Lord Lyon
and one of the great historians of Scotland, alludes to the "possibility"
and other more modern historians agree that the Angus mac Somerled, Lord
of Bute and Arran, the father of Seumas (James) both slain  in 1210, then
Jean mas Seumas, was the heiress of the title of Marchiness of Bute and
Arran and since SOMERLED (local king of of Argyll), King of the South
Isles had Gaelic and Pictish Ancestry, Jean's title and inheritance would
then go to her first son, who would carry her title as his name. Bute, in
the Gaelic in the femine form would be Buidhe. When Jean married
Alexander, the Steward of the Scots, I believe their first son was Robert
of Buidhe or the Englished version, Boyd. If supposedly the Boyds were
Saxon or Underlings or the deMorevilles, how and why at the Battle of
Largs would a non-noble be given command of a force by King Alexander of
Scots?  The Stewarts have harbored Bute as their own when how it came to
them, it is just assumed that Alexander had inherited from his wife,
Jean?
