Smith E. was born about 1807 in Upper Makefield Township, Pennsylvania.1 Smith E.'s father was Jacob Trego and his mother was Letitia Smith. His paternal grandparents were William, Sr. Trego and Rebecca Hibbs. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Howard, Allen, Curtis, Henry, Thomas W., Elias, Joseph, Elinor and Rebecca. He was the oldest of the ten children.-
