Sarah and her family moved to Lauderdale Co., TN from NC when she was 14.
They traveled in a covered wagon and could only manage about 20 miles a
day because of the terrible roads. She is one of five children, the last
being born in Haywood Co., TN. She is enumerated with the 1860 census
with Susie and Henry. In the 1870 census she enumerated as living with
her daughter Louisa and her family. She is listed as "Sally". Washington
Co., NC Deed Book CC, page 131 dated 16 Oct 1888 shows Sally Castellaw of
Lauderdale Co., TN, heir and only survivor and heir at law of Hezekiah
Spruill, deceased sold land to J. J. Woodley of Washington Co. for $1.00,
land bought by her father 30 Oct 1815 (Deed Bbook G, page 819-820).
