by the by-there is a henry Washington Sharpton who lived in Etowah Cty,
AL Born Gwinette Co. Ga, Jan 1, 1855, died Etowah Co. May 13, 1936. He
moved from GA as a young man & lived his adult life on a small farm in
St. Clair Co.AL. He was 29 years old when he married Mary DeCalb
Spradley, b.Oxford, Al., Sept 6, 1868 and d.Nov. 12, 1958. She was the
daughter of Michael DeCalb Mongomery Spradley and Elizabeth Boone,
Daughter of Samuel Boone (nephew of Daniel Boone) and Elizabeth Bradley.
Henry had seven children in a small log house: Silas b. Dec. 19, 1887
married (Nora Ella Bolton); Eular A. Mertice, June 11, 1890 (Floyd H.
Vinyard); James Elbert, February 22, 1892, (Nettie Payne); Mary
Elizabeth, Nov. 29, 1895 (Holland Columbus Graham); Henry Horace, Dec.
19,1897 (Iris Maude Davis); Grover Cleveland, Dec. 12, 1900 (Della
Adaline Copeland0: Delos Islum, b. Feb. 25, 1904 9Winnie Ethel Edge).
Henry's father was Silas S. Sharpton. Henry had 2 unmarried sisters,
Saphira Gillis b. July 27, 1859, d. Nov. 16, 1939 and Loucinda M. b. Oct.
1, 1856, d. Mar 26, 1921. His sister, Mollissa Louise, b. 1860, d. 1918,
married James Wesley Free and lived near Ashvile. AL. Henry W. was the
son of Silas S. and Mary Chandler Sharpton and the Grandson of Jordan and
Martha Sharpton. The family moved to St. Clair Cty, ca1869 in an oxcart.
Silas S. b. Feb. 14, 1829, in GA and d. June 19, 1921. He serve in the
CSA as Pvt., Co. H. 38th Reg't
