The following was from a newspaper clipping given to me, Ron Bridges, by
Gertrude P. Parnell via the mail on August 20, 1996.
G. F. PORATH DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS
G. F. Parath, 51, died Thursday at 9:00 p. m., after a short illness at
his home on South Brundidge Street.
He was a faithful member of the Lutheran church. Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Ada Lee Spradley Porath and seven children: Mrs. Catherine Schmidt,
of Montgomery; Mrs. T. A. Parnell, Julia Dean Blanche, Pauline, Joe, and
G. F. Porath, Jr.
He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Paul Demia (?), of Long Island,
N. Y. and a brother who resides in Germany. He was preceded to the grave
by two sons, Gustave and Frederick Porath.
Funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a. m. from Rhodes Funeral Home with
the Rev. W. T. Grider of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be
in the family lot in Greenwood cemetery, Montgomery, with Rhodes in
charge.
Active pall bearers will be: Vernon Ivey, Albert Rushing, Hop Rushing, T.
A. Parnell, Lewis Pippin, Devan Pippin, John Foster and Homer Collins.
