VASCO MARTINEZ's father was MARTIN FERNANDEZ de NOVAIS and his mother was SANCHA MARTINEZ.  His maternal grandparents were MARTIN FERNANDEZ de RIBA de VIZELA and ESTEVAINHA SOARES.  He was an only child.

They had a son and a daughter, named Afonso VASQUES and URRACA.
