- Married: Margaret CLANTON about 1944, Montgomery, Montgomery County,
Alabama - [T.J. suffered from epilepsy. Shortly after his marriage his
seizures tuned for the worse and he could no longer work. Because of this
he forced his wife to leave him even though she did not want to. He loved
her too much to limit her to a future of caring for a husband who could
not support her and any of their possible future children. He felt it
just would be fair to Margaret. At the time of their marriage, my
grandparents, Myrtle Ruth OZMENT Barnes and Cagle Ware BARNES Sr., rented
them a room at their residence on Robinson Street in Montgomery, Alabama.
My mother, Mary Earl BARNES Newberry remembers that Margaret would not
have anything to do with the divorce and would not sign any papers, so
there is a possibility that the marriage was annulled. Mother remembers
that Margaret's grandparents lived in a nice home on Holt Street in
Montgomery and that Margaret's parents lived in a nice home on Mildred
Street near the intersection of Holt Street in Montgomery. Mother also
remembers that Margaret did eventually, re-marry.]
