Wayte was born in 1634 in Malden, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.¹ Wayte's father was JOSEPH (Hill) HILLS and his mother was ROSE (Clarke) DUNSTER. His paternal grandparents were GEORGE HILLS and MARY SYMONDS; his maternal grandparents were HENRY DUNSTER and ISABEL KAYE. He had eight brothers and eight sisters, named N.N., Joseph, Stephen, Gershom, Samuel, Nathaniel, John, James, Mary, Elizabeth, REBECCA, Sarah, Mehitable, Abigail, Hannah and Deborah.
