Grandma Jordan's maiden name was Gallant. Her father was a traveling
preacher, and they traveled by covered wagon from town to town. It was
told that she didn't have a permanent home until she married Grandpa at
age 13 or 14. Grandma had told she was married at age 14.
Information gathered over the years by Hetta May Jordan Harper indicated
she was Choctaw Indian. Her brother, John W. Gallant, died Aug. 7, 1970
while living in Konawa with Hetta. Twin Hettie died as a baby.
Note sent to me from Aunt Berta today, 6/18/99 was handwritten from Aunt
Het. She said that grandpa Gallant came from Holland. Dutch. Jordans
were Germans and Cherokee Indian. Great Great Grandpa was from Germany
(Het's statement).
