Horace Datus was born on August 8th, 1826 in Westfield, Hampshire, Massachuetts.1 Horace Datus' father was Horace Datus ENSIGN and his mother was Mary BRONSON. His paternal grandparents were ISAAC ENSIGN and LYDIA NOBLE; his maternal grandparents were Sylvanus BRONSON and Esther REMINGTON. He had five brothers and a sister, named Luman Ashley, John Calvin, Martin Luther, Rufus Bronson, Elijah and Lydia Esther. He was the oldest of the seven children.
