John's father was WILLIAM (Rev) EDDYE and his mother was MARY FOSTON. His paternal grandparents were THOMAS EDDYE and MARGARET UNKNOWN; his maternal grandparents were JOHN FOSTON and ELLEN MUNN. He had a brother and a sister, named Samuel and ABIGAIL.
