According to the Bible records of Abner CRENSHAW (as transcribed by Myra
Ware WILLIAMS CRENSHAW around 1965), Martha CRENSHAW (born 10 April 1810)
was the second of the five children of Abner and Anderson's brother
Archibald CRENSHAW (26 June 1776--22 Feb 1818) and his wife Mary FINCH.
Martha married Addison LYLES in Nov 1827 in South Carolina.
Martha and her youngest sister Mary Eliza (born 29 Aug 1815, married
Lydall Parke SAXON in Laurens Dst., SC on 27 Dec 1831) were said to have
been taken in and reared by their uncle Abner CRENSHAW after the death of
their parents (Mary FINCH CRENSHAW died in 1816).
Abner CRENSHAW's wife Charlotte Perry ELMORE was a daughter of Gen. John
Archer ELMORE by his first wife, Mary Ann Sarah SAXON, probably a first
cousin of Lydall Parke SAXON's father, Capt. Lewis SAXON of Laurens, SC
(my wife's ancestor).
I'm not related to these CRENSHAW's; my interest in them is because of
their multiple connections to my wife's SAXON family of Laurens, SC.
