Harriet E. was born in 1858.1 Harriet E.'s father was MIchael H. COUCHMAN and her mother was Elizabeth NEER. Her maternal grandparents were Amos NEER and Sarah Nancy CUNNARD. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Jacob, Amos Neer, George William, James B., Michael Lewis, Willie, Amanda and Nancy. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named John W., Sarah E., Susannah E. and Matilda.-
