2. It is believed that James Benjamin Bonner was born in Talbot Co., GA
as his father, Robert A. Bonner and mother Louisa are listed in the 1850
Census of Talbot Co, GA along with son, James, age 2 and daughter, Martha
age 8 months.
3. James Benjamin Bonner was a farmer and a hauler.
4. He owned land in Crenshaw Co, AL and also lived in Jakin, GA and SE
Houston Co, AL.
5. According to his granddaughter, Mary Sue Bonner Hagler, he ran away
from home when 16 years old and enlisted in the Confederate Army but he
never saw combat. Several James, Benjamin , J. B. et al Bonners are
listed in CSA records but none with service data fit his age, home
county, etc - there are two for whom only a serial number is listed, he
may have been one of those if he did not go to combat.

Mary L. buried at Helicon. Info reportedly came from David Center who has
researched Confederates in Crenshaw County.
