Ruth was born in 1844 in Marshall Co., AL.1 Ruth's father was James G. Anderton and her mother was Caroline Fortner. Her paternal grandparents were John, Sr. Anderton and Ruth Blakley; her maternal grandparents were Pleasant Fortner and Lucienda Harris. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Pleasant, Wiley, Enoch, Franklin, Nancy, Lucintha, Mahala and Caroline. She was the third oldest of the ten children. She died in ?.1 -
