Benedict was born about 1599 in Whitestaunton, Somersetshire, England.1 Benedict's father was THOMAS (Alvord) ALFORD and his mother was JOAN HAWKINS. His paternal grandparents were WILLIAM (John) ALFORD and UNKNOWN Miss; his maternal grandparents were JOHN HAWKINS and UNKNOWN JOAN.
