BASILIUS' father was LEO ARGYRUS and his mother was AGATHA de BYZANTIUM. His paternal grandfather was EUSTATHIUS ARGYRUS; his maternal grandparents were RAMANUS I EMPEROR de BYZANTIUM and THEORDORA VLADIMIR AUGUSTA. He was an only child. He died about 1017.¹
