Matfried's father was Count of Metz Adalbert of Metz Count of Metz and his mother was Luitgarde d' (of Ardennes. His maternal grandparents were Count d'Ardennes Voiry d' (Wigeric) Ardennes Count d'Ardennes and Princess W.Frank Cunigunde Princess W.Frank. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Hugh V, Hugues III, Gerard, Adalbert and Hedwig. He died after 0960.General Notes
