Edith was born about 1074 in Surrey, England. Edith's father was William de Warenne , 1st Earl of Surrey and her mother was Princess of England Gundreda. Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Rodulf de Warenne and Emma Beatrice; her maternal grandparents were William the William I 'the , King of England/Conqueror and Matilda of Matilda Flanders. She had two brothers and a sister, named William II, Rainald and Gundred. She was the second oldest of the four children.-
