Simon was born about 1093 in Valois, Isle de France, France.  Simon's father was Hugues "le Grand" Hugh "The Great" , de France Crepi/Capet and his mother was Adelle (Adelaide) Countess of Vermandois. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Raoul I, Henri Lord of, Guillaume, Agnaes, Maud (Matilda), Isabel (Elizabeth), Bbeatrice and Constance.  He was the second youngest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named Renaud.  He died in Selencie.
