Gilbert was born in 0956 in Reims, Marne, France. Gilbert's father was Gilbert Duke Of Lorraine and his mother was Gerberge Princess of Germany. His maternal grandparents were Heinrich I "The Fowler" King Of The Germans and Matilda Countess Of Ringleheim. He had a brother and three sisters, named Henri Duke Of, Gerberge Princess Of, Alberade and Wiltrude Duchess Of. He was the youngest of the five children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Lothair King of, Charles Duke of Lower and Matilde Princess of. He died at the age of 29 in 0985.-
