William de Peveril 
William was born about 1080 in Of, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England. William's father was William the Elder Peverell and his mother was Adeline Adeliza de Poitou. His paternal grandparents were Ranulph PEVERELL and Ingelrica England; his maternal grandfather was RICHARD, Earl of Lancaster. He had two sisters named Adelise and Maud. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died after 1155 in Of, England.General Notes

William Peverel built Whittington Castle, a Norman Motte and Bailey castle after the demolition of a previous stronghold. His eldest daughter, Mellet inherited the castle. She married Warin de Metz of Lorraine, the founder of the FitzWarines. They held the castle until 1240 when it was taken by King John and its owner, Foulke FitzWarine was called an outlaw.
Another source says that the castle Whittington was originally built in 845 by Welsh Prince Ynyr ap Cadfarch and was seized by Roger de Montgomery who gave it to Sir William Peveril (Peverell) of Peak. The present castle dates to 1221 with the FitzWarins (see this line which begins with William's daughter Mellet).
